… until Restauration will depart from Stavanger on July 4, 2025, 200 years after its previous voyage to New York City.

The S/S Restauration was one of the first of its kind in the world to feature hybrid electric propulsion, and it helped inspire the development of electric ferries in Norway.

To ensure a safe voyage and maneuvering in narrow waters and areas with strong currents, the Restauration Friends Association is now investing approximately 4 million NOK in the installation of new, more powerful electric motors and propulsion systems, equipment for communication via satellites and navigation on their vessel

The Friends Association risks accumulating significant debt after the anniversary celebrations without additional contributions.

‍

Despite the contributions – for which we are incredibly grateful – from some Norwegian-Americans, the public sector, businesses, and all individuals who understand the importance of the anniversary, which celebrates the strong family and business ties between Norway and North America,
we are sill short of the funds required.

We hope that more will join in supporting and contributing to making a safe Atlantic crossing possible and participating in a collaboration that opens up exciting opportunities and networks.
